How much is available until payday?
A bank balance answers what is there. A payday spending plan answers what is still available after commitments. Start with money already received and available to use, then give upcoming payments their space before deciding what you can spend on groceries, travel and other daily needs.
Daily estimate = (available money − unpaid bills before payday − protected savings − buffer) ÷ days before payday. Round down to the currency’s smallest unit. This is a spending ceiling to review, not permission to spend it regardless of tomorrow’s needs.

Edit the fictional example below. Start with a realistic next payment date. The calculator counts the start day and excludes payday, so a plan from the 1st to the 16th covers 15 calendar days. Changing the currency does not convert the figures.

Starts with fictional euro amounts. Dates move to your local today and 15 days later after loading. Edit everything to match your situation.
Changing currency relabels amounts; it does not convert them.
Choose valid dates, with payday 1–366 calendar days after the start. The start day counts; payday does not.
Use cleared money you can spend, excluding credit limits and expected income. Savings and buffer must be part of that balance; reserve each amount only once.
Number format: 1,234.56. Amounts up to one billion.
Unpaid bill
2 / 8Only unpaid bills belong here. Dates before payday count, including overdue bills. Bills on or after payday are shown but excluded. Use the actual payment date.
The daily amount rounds down to the smallest currency unit. It is a planning ceiling, not a guarantee. No new income, interest or fees are assumed.

What if I spend today?
Assumes this is all you spend today. The remaining money is divided across the later days, excluding payday. Add any fees to your inputs.
Daily estimate = (available money − unpaid bills before payday − protected savings − buffer) ÷ calendar days before payday, rounded down.
Calculations stay in this browser. No account, bank connection, upload, saved inputs or website analytics.
A worked example: €30 a day, then €25.71
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Cleared money available now | €1,200 |
| Unpaid bills before payday | −€500 |
| Savings already reserved within that balance | −€150 |
| Extra protected buffer | −€100 |
| Left for everyday spending | €450 |
| Calendar days before payday | 15 |
| Daily estimate | €30 |
The two example bills are €300 for housing and €200 for utilities. If €90 is all you spend today, €360 remains for the following 14 days: €25.71 per day, rounded down. Spending only €30 today would leave €420 over 14 days, still €30 a day. A larger purchase changes tomorrow’s room; it does not create new money.
Which bills and savings should I include?
Enter only unpaid bills using the date money actually leaves, allowing for payment processing. Overdue bills remain reserved. Bills on payday or later appear in the timeline but are excluded from this interval. If a payday bill must clear before wages arrive, reserve it in protected money or end the plan a day later and include it. Check that timing yourself.
Savings and the buffer must already sit inside the starting balance. If a separate savings account was excluded from that balance, do not subtract it again. Credit limits and expected income are not available cash. For several known future costs, use the sinking fund calculator to decide what to reserve, then enter only the relevant total here.
Why FinTracker is our #1 pick for keeping the habit
Bao Labs publishes FinTracker and this guide. We recommend FinTracker for the everyday iPhone routine around this estimate: record real expenses, check category budgets and keep savings goals visible in one place. The monthly budget guide helps turn a daily ceiling into useful categories.
Your ledger stays on your iPhone, with no bank connection required. Optional online voice AI can help with entry; review the amount and meaning before saving. Adding and editing require an active trial or subscription. This free web calculator is separate from the app: we are not claiming FinTracker automatically forecasts payday spending, moves savings or reads your bank balance.
What if the result is negative or income varies?
A negative result means the entered commitments exceed available money. Do not treat the dash in the daily field as a zero-cost solution. Recheck duplicates and payment dates, protect essentials, and revise flexible spending or the timing of commitments where possible. If pay varies, use a conservative date for the next payment and recalculate when funds actually arrive.
Make the plan easier to maintain with a 10-minute weekly review. Re-enter the current available balance and remaining unpaid bills when you update the start date. Remove bills you have paid so they are not deducted twice.

Questions about daily spending limits
Is this a guaranteed safe-to-spend amount? No. It depends on complete, current inputs. Forgotten costs, fees or delayed income can change the result.
Can I use it without linking a bank? Yes. The tool calculates in your browser without an account, uploads or saved inputs. Reloading resets the plan; print it if you want a copy.
Does this replace a budget? It covers one pay interval. Categories and multiple savings goals help you manage the wider month.
Why exclude payday? The estimate stops before new pay is assumed to arrive. Actual payment order on that day still needs checking.
